Can I use a meat thermometer if there is water in it?

I am going to bake a whole chicken and I noticed that the meat thermometer that I am going to use has water in the dial. Someone must have put it in the dishwasher the last time I used it. Is it safe to use and will it still register the correct temperature?

I cooked the chicken to the right temperature, but it’s still red inside! How much longer should I cook it for?

I put a whole chicken in the over for a little over one hour. The meat thermometer read that it was the right temperature (about 190 degrees, I think). But when I took it out and started to cut it up, parts of it were still red inside! How much longer should I cook it for?

This is a whole chicken with bone in it and oven cooked.

It’s a fairly small size whole chicken, what temp and for how long? And what should the meat thermometer read?
