My car is leaking antifreeze and I think it’s probably the thermometer since it’s leaking below the engine and the car hasn’t overheated all the way. I’ve changed a radiator thermometer myself before, but I really just can’t find it on this car. Help would be immensely appreciated.

Especially when I’m cooking beef, I’d like to get it much hotter. My grill thermometer only goes to 550 degrees, and I doubt if I’ve gotten it much hotter than that. A good restaurant will cook a steak at between 1000-1200 degrees. How can I increase the heat in my grill?

I’m grilling sausage on a George Forman grill. How can I tell when the sausage is done? Plus, I don’t have a cooking thermometer so I can’t tell temperature.

I know I won’t be able to determine temperature precisely, but I want to make yogurt at home without buying a cooking thermometer. I figure 60C is probably easy to touch, but hard to keep your finger in for more than a second…. does that sound right?

I’m slow-cooking a 4 pound frozen turkey breast for 7 hours (in a Crock Pot on low.) Is there any reason to worry about the internal temperature? (I don’t have a thermometer.) Or will it be fine?

The melting point of an alloy can be altered by changing the composition. Certain organic materials have also been developed for the same purpose. Shown below is a simplified diagram of the pop-up thermometer used in cooking turkeys. Describe how this thermometer works. http://forum.belmont.edu/cornwall/popup.gif
