How did people manage without cooking thermometers in the olden days?
Whereas today people claim that one needs a cooking thermometer for cooking.

You don’t need a cooking thermometer today, you just need to know what you’re doing. I don’t own one, and I do a good bit of cooking. I find the destruction of the structural integrity of the meat to be a poor tradeoff, especially since I can usually manage without messing anything up. It is just a matter of figuring out how long something is going to take, and using other empirical evidence to support your conclusions.
Simply put, they managed it by being good cooks. Those who weren’t managed it by eating bad food haha.
