I am going to bake a whole chicken and I noticed that the meat thermometer that I am going to use has water in the dial. Someone must have put it in the dishwasher the last time I used it. Is it safe to use and will it still register the correct temperature?

I killed me about a one-hundred pound doe for meat. I took the back-straps (tenderloins) out. I plan to put the meat in a pan with water on the bottom of it, season it and cover it with aluminum foil. I will probably set the oven on about 350 degrees. How long should i let [...]

I heard somewhere that by poking through your roast with a thermometer, you're allowing moisture in the steak to be released.
I tried doing a roast without the thermo, and it actually came out to be more tender than my previous roasts, even though it was cooked to medium well done. I don't know if this [...]

I have an 1880s walnut Seth Thomas wall clock that had a thermometer as part of the crown decoration. The old bubble leveler is still on the clock, but the thermometer is long gone. The plalcement of the thermometer would be part of the complete restoration of the old clock.

Baby hid the meat thermometer, so assume that I don't have one:
- 14.09 lb turkey.
- 325 degrees Fahrenheit
- Convection oven (convection feature may be shut off)
- Foil-covered for 3/4 of cooking cycle
- Turkey is not stuffed

A long time ago, our forefathers – or more accurately, their wives – judged food by its looks. Back when cooking thermometers were just a dream in a little child’s mind, women and men enamored with the art and science of cooking simply took into account how food looked like, smelled or tasted in order [...]
